PARAMOUNT TOPS FASIG-TIPTON JULY Fusaichi Pegasus Filly Brings $800,000
Paramount Sales continues to race with the leaders among sale consignors. In only its second year, Paramount has claimed its first sale topper. The FUSAICHI PEGASUS filly out of LA CHAPOSA exuded class the moment she stepped out of her stall for her first show on the Fasig-Tipton sale grounds. Show after show the impressive bay played the part of a sale topper. The final $800,000 bid demonstrated that lookers agreed. The filly, a beauty from the first crop of FUSAICHI PEGASUS out of LA CHAPOSA, was purchased by Tim McMurray on behalf of Stan Fulton.
Paramount consigned the filly for New York businessman William Schettine who acquired LA CHAPOSA's 2002 offspring at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale for $410,000. Paramount would like to congratulate Mr. Schettine, Mr. Fulton and Tim McMurray. If this filly takes after last year's class of yearlings, she will be seen in the winners circle soon and often. We'd like to wish her new connections the best of luck.

GRADUATES STEP UP - SHOW CLASS Grads Impress in Stake Starts
Paramount's class of 2002 yearling grads continue to make news. Four stake starters won those starts in a span of two weekends, and one has now earned attention at Saratoga's meet.
HECKLE became the first graduate to make the big step up in class winning the G3 Tremont S. June 28th at Belmont Park by more than three lengths. After breaking well, he held the lead at each pole in front of strong contenders such as ADAGE, BEST TO BE KING and KORSAKOFF. After a disappointing Sanford, in which HECKLE failed to get the lead, Dogwood Stable reports the son of HENNESSY may next start in the HECKLE may start next in the G2 Saratoga Special August 13th. Congratulations to owner Dogwood Stable, trainer Todd Pletcher, and breeder Gaines-Gentry Thoroughbreds.
ANTONIUS PIUS wasted no time in becoming Paramount's second grad to win a Group race. The $1.5 million yearling added the Group 2 Railway Stakes to his resume Sunday June 29th. The DANZIG colt ran professionally as he overcame a less than optimal post to be ridden "hands and heels" to the wire to win by a half length. Trainer Aidan O'Brien has included the G1 Phoenix S. as well as the G1 National Stakes in his plans for ANTONIUS PIUS' future. Congratulations to owner Michael Tabor, trainer Aidan O'Brien, purchaser Demi O'Byrne, and breeder Dr. Tony Ryan of Castleton-Lyons.
BERRY BERRY then added the Prairie Gold Lassie to the streak with her win in that stake race on July 6th at Prairie Meadows. Breaking from the rail, the filly quickly got the lead and never looked back, taking the five furlong race by a length. Congratulations to the connections of BERRY BERRY, owner Hunt Stables and trainer Larry Hunt, and to the filly's seller, Drumkenny Farm.
Finally, MAPLE SYRPLE rounded out Paramount's 4-peat stake streak with an impressive win in the Clarendon S. at Woodbine. The daughter of AMERICAN CHANCE is only the second filly to win this race in its history. After that effort the bay filly headed for the Grade 2 Schuylerville where she ran a very respectable second. After breaking from the far outside post position, MAPLE SYRPLE took the lead immediately, briefly held it then relinquished it to the eventual winner only to be beaten by a length and a half. MAPLE SYRPLE is now the third Graded Stake horse from Paramount Sales' 2002 yearling graduates. Congratulations to owner Team Valor and trainer Mark Casse.
CONGRATULATIONS
Paramount Sales would like to congratulate all of the connections of Paramount's winning graduates:
