 4 PARAMOUNT SALES GRADUATES RUN. . . 4 WIN!

Winners include 2002 $1.5M Paramount Sale Topper ANTONIUS PIUS

Paramount Sales, whose inaugural season was a tremendous success, continues to write its early history as four of its first sales graduates to run have all won their first starts.  The first four winners include the $1.5 million DANZIG - CATCHASCATCHCAN (GB) colt purchased by Demi O'Byrne on behalf of Michael Tabor.

Now named ANTONIUS PIUS, the bay son of DANZIG won his first start by 6 easy lengths in a maiden race at Gowran Park in Ireland.  Trained by Aidan O'Brien, ANTONIUS PIUS is now the fifth winner in a row for his trainer in this race.  The previous Ballydoyle runners to earn their rites of passage in the Gowran maiden race include BACH, LANDSEER, and SPARTACUS, all of whom progressed to Group 1 races.

EAST BAY, a two-year-old filly by STORMIN' FEVER out of TEE FOR THREE, broke her maiden by five impressive lengths at Keeneland April 10.  Since that race, the filly ran a very game third in the Three Chimney's Juvenile Stake on Derby Day.  EAST BAY is the first winner and stake horse for her sire.  Consigned by Paramount Sales for The Lads in the 2002 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the filly was purchased by Bobby Powell on behalf of Mike Rutherford for Manchester Farm.

After posting outstanding works while stabled at Keeneland, HECKLE, the steel grey son of Hennessy, broke his maiden in his first start for Dogwood Stable, equaling a track record that has stood for three decades.  The $90,000 Paramount Sales Keeneland July Sale graduate ran a good fourth behind EAST BAY in the Three Chimney Juvenile Stakes.  Dogwood Stable's website is reporting HECKLE will next be pointed for the June 6 Flash Stakes at Belmont Park which may then put him on track for the G1 Hopeful at Saratoga.

PARISIENNE, a speedy daughter of the ultra-quick GOOD AND TOUGH, broke her maiden in her first start at Gulfstream Park, beating a field of nine by a length.  The Paramount Sales graduate ran the three furlongs in 33.48 seconds.  PARISIENNE was being aimed for a stake race off this strong effort.
